Artist's Statement

"I am inspired by several artists, including Louise Nevelson and
Frank Lloyd Wright. I also take inspiration from sources as
eclectic as nature and early industrial design. There are no political
or philosophical messages hidden in my work - it is what it is. I find
beauty in the simplicity of design, achieved by a repetition of laminated
forms. I use a monochromatic color scheme to emphasize the form
of each sculpture and the interplay of light and shadows on the surface.
I ad textural elements for visual interest, and because they serve
as containers for light. For me, a flat surface wouldn't be nearly
as dramatic; it would be stripped of its skin of constantly shifting shadows.

I aim for visceral responses in viewers rather than analytical
ones. I encourage you to look with your emotions instead of
with your intellect. My artwork is purely intuitive. It is meant
to strike a metaphysical chord
- to be pleasing to the eye and soothing to the spirit."
